Sorry I’ve been away from the blog for a few weeks but I have a great excuse this time! As you can see, I’ve been a little busy My wife and I welcomed Doyle Becks Allen (we call him Becks) into the world at about 8:30pm on 1.21.2010, four weeks ahead of schedule. The early arrival definitely caught us off guard and threw our world into a bit of chaos. Thanks to friends and family support though, we have emerged on the other side with a happy and healthy bouncing baby boy. Here are a few shots from his “birth day” and the week or so since.

Travis, Mary, and Cora Bea

Here’s another fun Fall family shoot with Travis and Mary and their beautiful little girl, Cora Bea. We had another spectacular Fall day here in East TN and made a full afternoon of it. Travis and Mary have a bit of a retro vibe and are remodeling an older home in a great neighborhood. I tried to give many of these shots a bit of a retro feel . . . all be it with a contemporary composition Feel free to check out more images from the shoot here.

How I Spent My Weekend . . .

Hey everyone! After an all day model shoot on Friday (more on that in future posts), I decided to take a weekend off from “real photography” and editing and just have fun with friends and family. A guy needs a break every now and then right?! Days like this serve to remind me of why I love lake living and love photography so much and also why family and friends are really what life is all about. So, this is how I spent my weekend. It doesn’t get much better than this for me!

Wake up to dinosaurs, froggies, etc. This morning it was the miniature doll house and a little doctoring of old dad. Seems I always have some ailment requiring special medical treatment.

Learning to climb onto, stand on, straddle, paddle, and swim after (or have Dad swim after) Mommy’s new wake surfboard . . .

Teaching our daughter to ski for the first time . . . a landmark event of the summer!

I’ve Been Blogged

Spent a little time this last weekend on “the other side” of the camera for a change and just had a blast. I think I have over 20,000 images of my daughter now (that’s not an exaggeration) and I’m in something like 2 of them (well that may be a slight exaggeration . . . but you get the picture). So, we had my friend and fellow photographer, Jessi Ringer, come out to the house bright and early on Saturday am for a little “day in the life photo shoot” with me and my girls.

Jessi did an amazing job keeping up with our little bundle of pure energy and adrenaline. We put Jessi though the paces with a wide array of inside and outside activities including playing dinosaurs and froggies, birdie flying, coffee cafe, red bud pie making, hiking, biking, climbing trees, gardening, jumping in water puddles, gymnastics, and super jumping . . . and this all in two hours or so!
