Here’s a sneak peek of a recent bridal shoot with Brooke Waddell. Brooke’s big day is one week from tomorrow, so I thought I’d get these up as a preview. Brooke is obviously beautiful, and she was so much fun to shoot. Her inner beauty exceeds her outer. She is so at ease in her own skin and if you find yourself in her company you’d better be prepared for a lot of laughter. My jaws actually hurt when I got home that day. We spent nearly five hours in studio and driving around to lesser known corners of Knoxville for the shoot. Brooke was game for anything we threw her way. We ended up spending a beautiful evening at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens for the final shots. Wonderful location and a great setting to showcase this lovely lady. I can’t wait for the wedding. In her words, it’s a “redneck” themed affair, complete with moonshine and a bluegrass band. Sounds like my kind of wedding. I think it’s going to be featured in Knoxville Magazine, so stay tuned. I guess I’d better stay away from the ‘shine though!

New Year’s Day with Jeana & Alex

Hello everyone and welcome to a new decade! Unbelievable how fast that one went. I’m now embarking on my second year of blogging. Though my posts were somewhat erratic last year, I did surprisingly end up with 50 posts, which is almost one per week. That’s about what I was going for and about the best I can hope for I suspect.

Well let’s get on with 2010! I had the pleasure of photographing Jean & Alex at 8am on New Year’s day. Yikes! Sounded great at the time but by the second bottle of wine on New Year’s eve, I was second guessing the decision Well, as fortune would have it, the shoot was well worth it. Jeana and Alex are a great couple and so awesome together . . . a breeze and a delight to photograph. I’ll be shooting their wedding in Memphis in May and they just happened to be coming through town over on New Year’s day. So we setup a little couple’s session and bridal shoot. Thanks to Allan Mueller for assisting and Bobbie Clark for hair and makeup. This is just a taste of the fun we had. Hope you enjoy!

Angie Taylor – Bridal Session

Now that Robb and Angie are officially hitched, here’s a look back at some of her bridal session images. We spent a wonderful afternoon at my studio and around downtown Knoxville shooting these images. Angie was glowing and radiant and full of life and energy. We spent a few hours making these images and then met up with Robb for a couple’s session that evening. Thanks to Allan Mueller and Jessi Ringer for their splendid support as always!

Technical: I’ve been asked by some fellow photographers to share more technical and post processing information. This series includes both in studio and on location images. In studio shots were shot with multiple large soft boxes for main and fill and a stip box for a kicker for the highlights/rimming. THe headshots are primarily diffused natural light through a 1/2 stop scrim against a white wall. The location shots are typically natural back/side lighting with a Californial Sunbounce used to reflect as the main. Post on these are simply various creative treatments applied via LightRoom and my own custom presets. No retouching has been applied to these images. They are “proof” quality.
